Sharper Sense is an early stage neurotechnology company spun out of Columbia and Cornell University and backed by multiple venture capital groups including Joyance Partners, SOSV, and ComcastNBC. We are developing neuromodulation technology that enhances users’ sensory acuity. The technology uses noninvasive electrical stimulation to optimize brain state. Many commercial, clinical, and consumer applications. Following positive results in multiple pilot clinical studies, the company is now hiring for new roles to support product launch, market validation, and commercial partnerships.
Open Position: Director of Marketing & Sales
Location: In-person at our offices in Newark, NJ + remote when possible (hybrid)
Role: Lead our go-to-market, find optimal product-market fit, implement scalable outreach, drive revenue, and build commercial partnerships.
Skills: Experience with launching new products, conducting market research and analysis, maintaining customer relationships, building partnerships, and creating licensing deals
Type: Full-time.
Pay: $60K-$100K per year + stock options (0.1%-1% of company) + benefits.
We are seeking an experienced Director of Marketing & Sales to lead Sharper Sense’s commercialization efforts. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive go-to-market strategy, prioritizing target markets, securing partnerships and licensing agreements, and positioning Sharper Sense for scalable growth. Strong candidates will have experience taking novel technology from a validated prototype to market success. You will work closely with our existing team that includes an embedded electronics engineer, biomedical engineer, and a neuroscientist, business advisors, and consultants.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead research efforts to identify and prioritize applications and markets.
• Develop, refine, and execute a structured go-to-market strategy, leveraging our existing military and professional sports partnerships.
• Build and manage scalable outreach processes to engage potential customers and develop compelling sales and licensing materials.
• Conduct research and provide strategic guidance on pricing models and deal structures
• Drive early revenue by identifying, cultivating, and closing deals with pilot customers and strategic partners.
• Identify and secure commercial partnerships with companies whose marketing/sales channels and user bases can be leveraged to expand our sales.
• Gather market feedback to inform the product development team
• Represent Sharper Sense at industry events, conferences, and in sales meetings.
Required Education and Work Experience
• Degree in business, marketing, sales, or a related field.
• Preference for additional industry experience or a graduate degree.
• Experience in leading product marketing and/or sales.
• Prior success developing and executing go-to-market strategies for new products.
• Adept at conducting research and analysis to identify and prioritize new markets.
• Experience establishing and maintaining customer relationship management tools.
• Prior success forging early partnerships with both end-users and commercial resellers.
• Other beneficial, but not required, experience could include marketing or sales involving federal contracts, wearable devices, healthtech, and DTC/B2B channels.

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Able to commute to our office in Newark, NJ and can start work within 30 days of being hired.
