Head of Commercialization
Sharper Sense is an early stage neurotechnology company spun out of Columbia and Cornell University and backed by top-tier investors including Joyance Partners, SOSV, and ComcastNBC. We have developed wearable neuromodulation technology that enhances users’ cognition and sensory processing. The single-use patches use noninvasive electrical stimulation to optimize brain state. Our first customers are in the Air Force and Army with vast additional commercial, clinical, and consumer applications.
Open Position: Head of Commercialization (Business Development, Strategy, Sales, Marketing)
Location: In-person at our offices in Newark, NJ + remote (hybrid)
Role: Build and execute strategy for the go-to-market with first customers, architect and lead the transition from pilots to recurring revenue, create commercial partnerships for market expansion.
Type: Full-time.
Pay: $75K-$115K per year + significant equity (0.5%-1.5% of company) + health insurance.
We are seeking a commercial leader to refine and execute our go-to-market strategy, converting a validated technology and high-profile traction (Army xTechSearch, AFRL CRADA, Pro Sports) into recurring contracts and strategic partnerships. This is a founding team role for someone experienced in taking novel hardware from early adopters to market dominance. You will work directly with the CEO, supported by a cross-functional team of engineers, neuroscientists, and advisors.
Key Responsibilities
• Execute go-to-market strategy, convert existing traction into recurring contracts.
• Refine our commercial roadmap, prioritizing market entry points, defining pricing models, and structuring licensing deals.
• Develop and manage scalable outreach processes and sales collateral to cultivate and close new B2B and B2G customers.
• Identify synergistic commercial partners and negotiate distribution and co-marketing agreements
• Act as the primary feedback loop between the market and the engineering team, translating customer data into requirements
• Represent Sharper Sense at industry events, conferences, and in sales meetings.
Required Education and Work Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or technical background is a plus)
• 3–7 years of experience in business development, sales, or strategy within hardware, MedTech, or Defense.
• Proven track record of launching new products and executing go-to-market from prototype to initial revenue
• Adept at conducting research and analysis to identify, prioritize, and price new markets.
• Experience selecting, implementing, and managing CRM tools and sales pipelines from scratch.
• Demonstrated success forging early strategic partnerships with end-users, channel partners, or resellers.
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with federal acquisition pathways, dual-use technologies, or prior military service
• Direct experience with wearables, neurotechnology, or bioelectronics

• Able to commute to our office in Newark, NJ and can start work within 30 days of being hired.
